Artwork for your home and for your everyday life.
Chrissy Feiteira is a full time ceramic artist working in a historic textile mill in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Growing up as the daughter of Azorean immigrants, she had lots of exposure to the traditions of handmade which has significantly influenced her work and adult life.
“I come from a family of artists and makers. My parents and grandparents were creative types, artists and musicians. I grew up in a home of craft projects, painting and drawing together while listening to records as a family was how we spent our time together. I learned to make sense of the world and to socialize with others in the community through art and creating with my hands.”
Her art process is about returning to the handmade movement where objects are again made by people with their hands and their hearts, not the mass production made by machines. Her art is about the connection between artist and community, about tradition. Her inspiration is to design objects that people will bring into their homes to share with their families and cherish while incorporating them into their everyday lives.
Currently, Chrissy designs and produces two separate bodies of work, her ceramic giftware line that she retails to over 200 shops and galleries around the USA, as well as online internationally, and her ceramic sculptures that she shows at select gallery exhibitions.
She also began teaching her craft and technique in her studio to other adults looking to enjoy the process
of handbbuilding and all the therapeutic benefits that come with it!
International collections include Kanoria Centre for the Arts in Ahmedabad, India and KU Art Center in Beijing, China.
She has also been recognized by The Gift Insider on CBS Madison News and Fox Detroit News.
Chrissy currently resides in Fairhaven, Massachusetts with her husband to be and their two fur babies.
